Turn prompt to UI with component-based output. Use daisyUI to translate prompts into cleaner frontend code with less revision.

The problem: Text prompts are lossy

Natural language drops details. A prompt like "Create a sidebar with navigation items" leaves layout, behavior, and state to the model.

Why prompts alone aren't enough

Natural language is ambiguous. UI decisions have many right answers:

For a "button that saves data":

Without constraints, the model guesses. With constraints, it reuses known patterns.

Give the model a small standard library of components:

Navigation:
  - navbar (with navbar-start, navbar-center, navbar-end)
  - menu (vertical or horizontal)
  - breadcrumbs

Cards & Containers:
  - card (with card-body, card-title, card-actions)
  - hero (for full-height sections)
  - section

Buttons & Controls:
  - btn (primary, secondary, outline, ghost, link)
  - checkbox, radio, toggle, input, textarea

Feedback:
  - alert (success, info, warning, error)
  - badge
  - modal (for confirmation, forms, etc.)

etc.

Now your prompt becomes:

"Create a navigation with three menu items using the navbar component. Add a primary CTA button on the right."

The model knows:

  • Use .navbar wrapper
  • Use .navbar-start and .navbar-end
  • Use .btn btn-primary for the CTA
  • The component handles responsive behavior and dark mode

The result is predictable because the model has a concrete target.

Structure prompts around daisyUI components and the output stays easier to edit.

1. Less ambiguity in prompts

Instead of: "Create a box with some form fields"

Write: "Create a card with a form inside. Use input and textarea for text fields, checkbox for agreement."

The model knows exactly which components to use.

2. Predictable component composition

The model learns:

3. Edits require less context

You ask for a change: "Add a secondary button next to the primary one."

The model modifies only the part that changed.

4. Multi-step refinement becomes cheap

First prompt: "Create a pricing page with three pricing cards."

  • Output: 150 lines of structured HTML

Second prompt: "Change the highlighted card to use the secondary color."

  • Output: 1-2 line diff, model only modifies the class

Third prompt: "Add a checkmark list of features to each card."

  • Output: Adds a list pattern the model already knows

Step 1: Define your design system (one-time)

Tell the model:

We use daisyUI components:
- Primary color is blue-600
- Secondary color is purple-600
- Cards use the .card component with .card-body inside
- Buttons are .btn with .btn-primary or .btn-secondary
- Forms use .input, .textarea, .checkbox components

All generated UI should use these and only these.

Step 2: Request UI with semantic language

Create a product listing page:
- Hero section at the top with tagline
- Grid of 6 product cards below
- Each card should show: image, title, description, price, and add-to-cart button
- Use the .card component for each product

The model outputs:

Step 3: Refine with targeted edits

You ask: "Add a badge showing 'New' to the first card."

Model modifies only that card:

Not the whole page.

Without semantic constraints:

  1. Prompt: "Build a checkout form"
  2. Model reads entire specification, invents structure
  3. You get: 200 lines of Tailwind markup
  4. You ask: "Add a security message below the payment input"
  5. Model reads all 200 lines, finds the payment section, adds message
  6. You get: 220 lines, contains original + new section

Each iteration re-reads and re-writes the whole thing.

With semantic components:

  1. Prompt: "Build a checkout form using .card, .input, .btn components"
  2. Model outputs: 80 lines using standard patterns
  3. You ask: "Add a security message below the payment input"
  4. Model modifies: 2-3 lines, adds alert component
  5. You get: 85 lines, focused diff

Iterations are smaller and faster.

Real example: Landing page in 3 prompts

Prompt 1: "Create a landing page header with logo area and navigation menu. Use navbar component."

Output: 25 lines using .navbar

Prompt 2: "Add a hero section below the navbar with a large headline and CTA button."

Output: 15 lines using .hero and .btn btn-primary

Prompt 3: "Add a features section with 4 feature cards below the hero. Each card should have an icon, title, and description."

Output: 35 lines using .card component repeated 4 times

Total: 75 lines of clean, semantic HTML. Human would need ~2 hours to code this. Model delivered it in 3 well-structured prompts.
